Eliminating clutter
Many people are now discovering that the Internet can help them to make significant 'practical' changes in their lives.
For instance, take a few minutes to have a look around your own office, or indeed, the entire practice.
Are you surrounded by clutter? Clutter constitutes anything that you have kept but which you have never used, or worse still, is now so out of date to be worthless.
Yet most of us are guilty of hanging onto to all sort of useless things.
Unfortunately, the result of all this clutter is a loss of productivity because when we do need something, it's often difficult to find it the piles of stuff that we have accumulated.
But that's where the Net can help. Today there are any number of sites that can help you to get rid of all that clutter, or at least to drastically reduce its insidious effects.
Let’s take a look at just four examples of these 'anti-clutter' sites.
On the home page of The Clutter Control Rules site, there are thirteen straightforward rules for discarding clutter. These range from one rule which states 'Handle something once' to another rule that warns 'Don't do things later'. But if clutter has taken over your life, then you might need to exercise the last rule: 'Call in a professional'.
On the Get Organized Now! site, half a dozen or so articles are featured each month in its 'Articles & Tips' section. Here's three examples of articles that have appeared there recently: 'Where in the World Do I Even Start to Get Organized?'; '3 Simple Filing Guidelines'; and '4 D’s of Effective Paper Management'.
It's on the ClutterBug.net site that you can learn everything that you need to know about defeating what's referred to there as 'Clutter Enemy Number One'. Of course, the enemy in question is paper.
You'll also read there why it's not a good idea to have a designated 'junk drawer' in your room, or in the practice office, or at home!
Finally, one aspect of clutter that is easily ignored is the amount of clutter that we carry around in our heads.
Head on over to the Mind over clutter site to read a thought-provoking article in its 'Internet Resources' section that is appropriately titled 'Clear Out Your Mental Attic'.
So don’t let clutter of any sort de-energize you any longer. Instead, use the power of the Net to start getting rid of clutter today.
An unexpected benefit of successfully getting rid of clutter in your life is that it has the potential to give you the energy and the motivation to tackle other aspects of your life that you may have been neglecting.
