Living a longer life!
While all of us hope to live a long life, there is little value in staying around longer unless, of course, there is also quality of life as well.
Thanks to the book, 'Live a Longer Life', you can now discover for yourself the scientific secrets of health and wellbeing at any age.
And once you start to look after yourself both physically and mentally, regardless of what age you currently are, the bonus is that you significantly increase the odds very much in your favour of living longer too.
'Live a Longer Life' is a well-researched book that has been written by Sophie Scott, an award-winning national medical reporter for the ABC. The last ten or so pages of the book contain comprehensive details of the different resources that Scott referenced whilst researching her book. These resources include other books, reports, research papers in medical journals, health-related Web sites, radio interviews, data from meetings, peer reviews and so on.
Scott's book is comprised of eight chapters, and here is a quick rundown on the sort of material that you will find in each of those chapters:
1. The causes of ageing.
2. Common illnesses and how to avoid them.
3. Eating the right food.
4. The role of exercise in extending your life.
5. The value of engaging in a healthy sex life.
6. An investigation into anti-ageing products.
7. The relationship between your body and your mind.
8. Keeping your brain fit and healthy.
Also sprinkled throughout her book too, you will find some short case studies in which Scott introduces 'some inspiring people who have put the secrets of longevity into practice through how they live their daily life'.
Scott points out in the preface to her book that 'most people have great intentions to live a healthy life'.
As she says, 'you only have to look at the massive sales of diet and health books around the world to see that people really do want advice and help in losing weight and living a healthier life'.
But she believes that the 'mistake they often make is doing too much too soon'. And that's a sentiment that I totally agree with, and that's also why Scott's approach in her book is different to a lot of other books that have been written about dieting, fitness and well-being.
The difference is reflected in the structure of the book wherein each chapter provides advice, tools and insights that will allow you to get a particular part of your life back under your control.
That means you can pick and choose the order in which you read the chapters, so, for instance, if excess weight is currently of concern to you, the obvious chapter to start reading is the one devoted to food issues.
There are a couple of major bonuses included in the 'Live a Longer Life' book.
The first bonus is its 'anti-ageing food plan' which shows you practical examples of the different sorts of foods that you should be eating to become, and remain, healthy.
The second bonus is its 'sweat, strengthen and stretch' exercise plan that can help anyone to start moving more, and that includes even those people who claim to hate exercise.
The other outstanding feature of this book is that its content is based on solid scientific research into longevity and well being that has been conducted by some of the world's best scientists.
Scott sums it up perfectly herself when she states that if you discipline yourself to take some time to read her book, and most importantly, to apply its lessons, then 'you will reap the benefits of living and feeling younger and healthier – and you will delay the process of ageing and increase your chances of a long, happy and healthy life'.
It was once thought that longevity was solely in your genes.
While there's no doubt that having the right genes is a crucial element to longevity, there is still also a lot that all of us can do ourselves to extend our lives, as well as to preserve the quality of our lives from the perspectives of health and well being.
And the 'Live a Longer Life' book shows you how to use science to do just that.
