It's called work!

'It's Called Work For a Reason!' is not your typical business or personal development book.

With a subtitle of 'Your Success is Your Own Damn Fault', that gives you a strong clue as to why that's the case.

In it, the book's author, Larry Winget, pulls no punches.

In fact, he tells you up front that his book is 'going to contain lots of stuff that will make you mad. Stuff that will bother you. Stuff that will be contrary to what you have become comfortable with. Contrary to what you believe'.

So if you're not prepared to be told a few home truths about success in business, I suggest that you don’t read his book. But that would be a pity though, because Larry has got some great ideas that are definitely worth knowing about.

A bonus is that the book has also got some stories about poor customer service that will give you a good chuckle. It's rather frightening really because the stories are true!

So here are just a few examples from the book that Larry hopes to shock you with (by now it shouldn't come as a surprise to you to learn that Larry personally refers to himself as 'The Pitbull of Personal Development'):

• No one owes you a living.

• Companies exist to make a profit, not to be sure you're happy.

• Accept responsibility for fixing your own problems.

• No work – no pay. No work – no job.

• The number one reason why results aren’t what they should be: apathy.

• You are not paid for effort, you are paid for results.

• Whining about the problem only prolongs the problem.

• Stop complaining about your results. (No one really cares, anyway.)

• You aren't paid to like your job; you are paid to do your job.

• Bad things happen to good employees.

• What you think of me is none of my business.

• Mind your own business. Do your job and leave the idiots to themselves as best you can.

• Give people a chance. Not many chances, but at least a few.

• Anyone who will lie about the little things will lie about the big things.

• Any time you give less than your best effort, you are stealing.

• Motivating others is impossible – forget it.

• People will usually lie to protect themselves.

• Everything costs more than you originally thought it would.

• Everything takes longer than you originally thought it would.

• Implement now, perfect later.

• Of all the people who will never leave you, you are the only one.

• People are selfish. Understand it, and manage it as best you can.

• There is no such thing as giving 110 percent. A hundred percent is all there is – you can't give more than all there is; that's why it's called all there is.

Surprisingly, Larry's confrontational style of presenting arguments is refreshing because you are never left guessing as to the point he is trying to make.

And like Larry, I'm a great believer too that one new idea, or one new concept, or just opening yourself up to one new possibility, all have the potential to radically change your life for the better.

That's why I recommend that you read Larry's book – it's choc-full of ideas, many of which, if implemented by you, could take your life in a totally new and exciting direction.

And even if you were to find that only one of his ideas appeals to you – which I very much doubt – that one idea is still worth the time it will take to read Larry's book.

So what does Larry himself think about the contents of his own book?

As to be expected, he gives an honest appraisal when he says: 'Will this stuff work for you? Beats me. It might. It might not. It either absolutely will work for you or absolutely won’t work for you. That's how sure I am of this stuff. This is really all I know about accomplishing anything either in life or in business: Stuff works only if you give it a try. So give it a try. Pick one little thing that I've suggested and see what you think. That's right, just one little thing. Don't lay the book down and overhaul your whole business. That would be overwhelming and would doom you to failure. Just try one little thing. If it works, try one more little thing. If that works, do it again. And on and on and on'.

In concluding this review, I have to be honest here myself – I think Larry has got it all wrong when he says his book might not work for you.

I believe it will.

But don't take just my word for it.

Grab yourself a copy of Larry's book, and dive into it to discover some great insights, not only into yourself, but also into the people around you that you live with or work with.

All sorts of new possibilities are bound to open up simply by reading this one book.
